A sudden spike in alerts

public

Symptoms

  • Alert volume jumps suddenly on a site that was previously quiet

Cause

Spikes are usually environmental or operational, not product failures: a changed camera view, new lighting, site works in a detection zone, or a newly enabled rule.

Resolution

  1. Open the trend view and identify which rule and camera the spike comes from.
  2. Look at the camera: has the view changed (knocked, re-aimed, obstructed, new lighting)?
  3. Check whether site works or new activity moved into the detection zone.
  4. If the activity is legitimate, adjust the zone or schedule rather than ignoring alerts.

Verification

Alert volume returns to the site's normal baseline and the remaining alerts are real.

Escalate if

The spike has no visible cause on camera — seeo support should check the rule's behavior.
